Please wear something you feel comfortable and can move in, for example, leggings, a t-shirt and trainers for fitness classes and Jazz or Ballet shoes for dance classes, alternatively socks will be fine. You may want to bring a bottle of water and an exercise mat if you have one (exercise only), if not, one will be provided.
Absolutely! Many of my current members had never done a dance or fitness class before and there are usually other new members like you in the group. Remember, we all have to start somewhere, and each and every class member has been in your position before, so there is no need to feel nervous, you will soon begin to feel part of the group.
It is important that you fill in a registration form before your free taster class to let your instructor know of any injuries or health issues. Classes are multi-level and you will be given different alternatives to work to your own ability. You will also be encouraged to let your instructor know during the class if any exercise does not suit you and an alternative will be provided.
If you have high blood pressure, are on medication or are recovering from an operation we advise you to speak to your GP first and get their consent to participate in this type of exercise.
You will be absolutely fine and will soon find that it is a brilliant way to help you become a healthier weight and more confident with your body. You are not alone and the majority of the people who start my classes want to lose weight. If you are medically obese then you should check with your GP before making changes to the level of physical activity that you are currently doing.
Yes! The good thing about all of our classes is that it doesn't matter if you aren't co-ordinated and no one will mind or care if you get the moves wrong. The purpose of doing these classes is to improve your co-ordination, which is a skill that can be developed over time, so be patient with yourself in your first class. If you just keep moving and are able to laugh when it goes a bit wrong, you will find you are not on your own. I teach this stuff week in and week out and I still go wrong!
A bottle of water.
An exercise mat if you have one (Ballroom Fitness, Core Strength & Stretch & Tone only).
